Where am I up to?...I hear you ask....

Well thankyou for taking an interest.

As I mentioned in my previous post I finished my Regency Day dress for the Picnic 21st Feb / Jane Austen Festival in Canberra in April. Well now I have also finished the bonnet and have made a very good start on the spencer.
Just about to sew the lining(already pinned and waiting) and sleeves in.(will probably do that tomorrow night...got a meeting after work tonight which I intend to leave early so I dont miss Grey's at 8.30.) I've still got to get some buttons, but thats about all I have to do with that one. Yay!! Photos coming.
I'm really happy with the spencer. I found some pics online of Spencers that have been made with a Sense and sensibilty pattern, the back of the spencer is diamond shaped with the shoulder and side seams coming around to the back. So I converted my Jacket pattern Butterick 4952. I also straightened the front and shortened it.It now looks very close.

With the day dress finished, I'll be able to start my ball dress for Canberra. Found a very nice sari which actually matches the gold leaf printed white cotton I bought for the dress. So I intend to use that as my train.

At work I've started the Mad Hatter costume. I am so glad I picked the velvet (see General Chat in the Guild forum) ..after seeing a photo of the real macoy http://www.costumersguide.com/news_july2009.shtml...so happy with my choice of fabric. I'll have a photo of that soon.

Our local Festival is on in March "Penrith City Festival"...annual event that starts off with a street parade. I havent put anything in the parade previously because I've found out too late. This year I intend to make a showing. The theme is "Story Time" So I've decided to do Harry Potter. I've got quite a few costumes for that theme, so why not. I had hoped to also do Alice in Wonderland, but I dont think I will have enough volunteers to do that as well. I may have to make or borrow a couple of other characters...see how I go.

Hubby John suggested we use his trike and trailer carrying a sign ...which will definitely attract attention to our lot. So if all goes to plan Profeesor Snape will triking down High Street.

Wanting to look into some sort of stage prop that I can use to spark off some magical spells.

Anyway thats it for now.
