Penrith City Festival parade 20thMarch2010

Well, well, finally I've have some time to catch you up on things.

Over the last couple of months, my helpers and I have been busting our asses to get some new costumes made for the aforementioned parade.
The theme this year - Story time".

I decided we - staff, family and friends, would represent the brilliant "Harry Potter" story. For a couple of reasons really...love the book series....We already had in store some of the characters......I own for myself the Bellatrix costume which I made last year for Syd Nova and just needed to wear it again.....gave me an excuse to make a few new characters.

Also at a recent Chamber of Commerce meeting, and as I was already making the Hatter costume, I convinced our local newspaper people to do "Alice in Wonderland" for similar reasons as aforementioned (great word isn't it?) They thought it was a good idea as well.

So as a result, we added: Prof Trelawny, Hagrid, Fleur Delacour and Luna Lovegood (in adult sizes) and a dragon(Norbert)in a big kids size to our already list of attendees to the parade: child's harry in his quidditch gear, Child's Draco Malfoy in his Quidditch gear, Child Ron Weasley in his school robes, Hermione and Ginny, Dumbledore, McGonagall and Snape as adults and myself...Bellatrix.

We also made Hatter's outfit and a Chesshire cat. Hatter is based on the wonderful current version of Alice (great movie by the way, the others based on the Disney cartoon version.

Our costumes were also represented in various other floats, which were hired because others wanted to join in the spirit of things.

Hope you like the pics.

I'll try and get a better pic of the Mad Hatter soon.

Oh...we won "Best Business Entrant" in the parade..received a plaque and $100 today.
